My fear about dating a woman without kids is more about boundaries and time management. Most women who date a dad would like to know that their kids like them. Just because you're smitten with your new love, it doesn't mean that your kids will share your positive feelings. Be true to who you are. It was a dip in the waters that frantic thirty-something-year-old parents who are also professionals are trying to navigate today. Divorced dads often have limited time with their children, so it may be some time before you finally give yourself permission to get back on the dating scene. As your relationship with your man grows, perhaps your role will look more parent-like. Introducing a new love interest too soon may delay or damage this process. Their situation can be considered by most to be a bit difficult to work around, to say the least. You leaving means that you leave him AND his kids. I was a single, self-employed, full-time dad with a growing, impressionable daughter.

I spent far too long in an unhappy marriage, so when it was over I recognised The One the minute I met her. Along with his ex-wife and children, a divorced man can deliver up baggage in the form of required alimony payments, child support payments, and perhaps other personal debt unrelated to the divorce.
I'm looking for some advice from single fathers who date, as well as advice from women who have dated single fathers.
Don't try too hard to make the kids love you.
But be careful about being overzealous. May be the kids.
I have also learned that men with kids love that much more deeply.
Just keep being a great dad and the rest is going to fall into place. Children are adjusting too, and introducing a significant other too soon — or someone who is not a positive influence — can have damaging psychological and emotional effects.
Be calm when you convey your discomfort.
